The Parent Forum
The Scottish Schools Parental Involvement Act (2006) provides for automatic membership to the Parent Forum of the school for of all parents/carers with a child at the school. From August 2007, all parents/carers with children at a school are automatically members of the ‘Parent Forum’ for their school.
The Parent Council
The Parent Council is the committee appointed by the Parent Forum to represent the collective views of parents and carers of pupils at the school, with the main aim of parents and carers working in partnership with the school. The Parent Council facilitates communication between the school and parents/carers by making sure that parents get the information they need and that the school staff gets feedback on parents’ views.

Membership of the Parent Council
Generally, members of the Parent Council must be parents and carers of pupils at Forres Academy and the Chairperson must have a child in the school. However, the Parent Council can also co-opt members from the community including teaching staff from the school.
Currently Forres Academy Parent Council comprises 9 parents and has 4 co-opted members who are staff representatives, as well as a local Councillor.
